Trump Is Banned From Facebook, Suspended From Twitter | U.S. News

00:00-07:09 Since last week’s violent breach at the US Capitol, Trump has been banned from Twitter and other social media outlets. Parler, the alternative app favored by many pro-Trump conservatives, has been booted by Amazon, Apple and Google for posts inciting violence leading up to the breach of the Capitol. Other platforms that have banned or restricted Trump and Trump-affiliated accounts include: Reddit, Twitch, Shopify, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Discord, Pinterest, and Stripe. 07:10-11:22 House Democrats introduced an article of impeachment against Trump today for “incitement of insurrection,” in the wake of last week’s deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says he expects a vote on the article could come as early as Wednesday, with the goal of beginning Senate discussions as soon as possible. 11:23-13:05 A viral tweet posted on Friday claims that impeaching Trump for a second time would mean he would lose the ability to run for president in 2024. That's not true. Nor are other claims in the tweet.  As of early Monday, it had more than 181,000 retweets and 725,000 likes. 13:06-17:09 Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones claims he put up $500,000 to mount Trump’s disastrous speech Wednesday in Washington, DC — and was asked by the White House to lead the subsequent march that devolved into a riotous siege of Capitol Hill. Jones said the funding came from a donor, but did not name them— but he did shed light on an initial plan to have the Secret Service escort Jones through the gathered Trump supporters so he could head a procession to the Capitol. 17:10-20:49 According to statistics from Johns Hopkins University, there are now over 90 million novel coronavirus cases worldwide. Over 1.9 million people have died. Over 50 million people have recovered globally. In the United States, over 22 million people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. America has had more than 374,000 deaths. 20:50-23:20 Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday expanded the vaccine eligibility groups to include three million more people, including those 75 and older. In the weeks since vaccinations began in mid-December, stories of doses sitting in freezers for weeks or being discarded have emerged, offering a glimpse of what public health experts have characterized as a troubled rollout in New York. 23:21-24:49 A rat named Magawa from Cambodia received a medal bestowed by the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals, a British charity, that recognizes acts of bravery and heroism for his work sniffing out landmines. Magawa has discovered 39 land mines and 28 pieces of unexploded ordnance, and helped clear more than 1.5 million square feet of land over the past four years.  24:50-25:18 A woman named Nancy Coyne is rehabilitating a beaver in her home in New York's Hudson Valley. Coyne's videos of Beave the beaver on TikTok have quickly racked up millions of views. Coyne says: "Beave started just kind of collecting anything that he could get his little paws on. So anything that was at his height, you know, around the house he would grab. He does seem to like doorways. He dams a lot in front of my front door." 25:19-29:08 President Elect Biden is not the only one getting some fanfare as he enters the White House -- his rescue dog, Major, is being honored by the shelter he came from. The Biden’s adopted Major, a German Shepherd, in 2018 from the Delaware Humane Association. The shelter and Pumpkin Pet Insurance are now hosting a virtual event to celebrate the first shelter dog in the White House. . Attorney Advertisement.
