NEW YORK FORKLIFT ACCIDENT REGULATIONS

Occupational Safety And Health Administration (OSHA) Standard For Power Industrial Trucks

This standard defines the requirements for use, design, maintenance and fire protection of fork trucks, such as the design and construction they should follow and the locations where they can be used.

OSHA Standard For Training And Maintenance (29 CFR 1910.178(I))

This standard requires that employers provide forklift operators with training on vehicle operation, inspection and maintenance.

In addition, it states that industrial trucks must be inspected daily before the beginning of each shift. The results of each inspection must be documented in a checklist specifically designed for the respective type of forklift.

Prohibition Against Young Workers Operating Forklifts (29 CFR 570)

This Code of Federal Regulations prohibits employers from assigning non-agricultural forklift operations to employees who are under the age of 18.
