Female Journalist Breaks Gender Barriers

Breaking as many stories as barriers, Mercedes Gallego was the first female Spanish journalist to live among American Troops in the Middle East.

There, she uncovered sexual abuse riddled within the military, and went on to publish several award winning stories that has placed her on an international pedestal for journalism.

Because Gallego has traveled the world to cover some of the world’s most appalling, beautiful and breaking stories, she has often run into complications when dealing with the United States bureaucratic immigration system.

Despite coming to America in 1999 on a I Visa for foreign media coverage, she consistently dealt with unyielding immigration officers at airports and burdensome paperwork.

Now a current green card holder, Gallego shares her experiences with Managing Partner of the Law Offices of Spar & Bernstein P.C., Brad Bernstein, on Brad Show Live.

Watch the link below to hear her chat not only about her coverage of the heart wrenching Haitian Earthquake and the United States invasion of Iraq – but her own immigration story!
