The United States has become a destination country for many people around the world. Whether individuals are drawn to the land of red, white, and blue for employment opportunities, or to be reunited with family members, people immigrate to the US for a variety of reasons. Despite Lady Liberty’s embrace, navigating the immigration process can be complicated. That is why our attorneys are hard at work every day ensuring that as many people as possible are granted entry into the US under the law.
Citizenship & Naturalization
The Law Offices of Spar & Bernstein can offer assistance in preparing applications for US citizenship. We guide permanent residents through the naturalization process and help clients prepare necessary forms as well as all relevant supporting documents. We provide a personalized approach in order to best assist clients in overcoming obstacles, such as prior criminal convictions, that may otherwise prevent them from obtaining citizenship.
A Green Card allows a foreign national to live and work permanently in the United States. The Law Offices of Spar & Bernstein can advise clients on the eligibility requirements and process for applying for a Green Card. Our firm offers assistance in determining how a Green Card may be obtained, explaining an individual’s rights and responsibilities as a Green Card holder, and navigating the pathway from Green Card status (also known as legal permanent residency) to citizenship.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, protects individuals who illegally entered the United States as children from being deported. DACA further allows such individuals to become eligible for a work permit in the US. The Law Offices of Spar & Bernstein will provide guidance to clients seeking DACA status and relief.
Our firm assists clients in obtaining both immigrant and non-immigrant work visas. We represent both individuals and companies from inception to completion in obtaining appropriate employment-based visas. This includes immigration petitions for alien workers, workers with extraordinary ability, H1B visas, L visas, E visas, and labor certifications.
The Law Offices of Spar & Bernstein will assist clients with changing or adjusting their visa status. A change of visa status often includes a modification from a visitor visa to a student visa, or from a student visa to a work visa. Our services handle such requests, as well as adjustments where a client may seek an extension of time on a visa, or an adjustment based on marriage status and other status changes.
Deportation & Removal
The Law Offices of Spar & Bernstein represent clients facing deportation and removal proceedings. The attorneys at Spar & Bernstein are experienced litigators and appear on behalf of noncitizens at immigration court seeking the cancellation of removal orders, the adjustment of an individual’s status, waivers, appeals, and requests for asylum.
