Ghanaian-American Helps Those With Mental Illness

NEW YORK  — Aside from being a college professor of geography, Kofi Peprah is a board member of the African Communities Public Health Coalition.

The coalition is based in Los Angeles, Calif. and serves Africans who have mental illness.

“There is a need to help people with mental illness in California,” Peprah said on Brad Show Live. “We train African advocates that go into communities, speak their language, and talk about the services available through our outreach programs.”

Peprah who immigrated to the U.S. himself in 2004, knows that immigration related issues can be the source of much grief for those who are having trouble acclimating to a new society.
