Marc Avila was born in Los Angeles, raised in Washington, DC, and has been living in New York City since February 2000. Before moving to the big city, Marc attended the University of Maryland – College Park (go Terps!), where he received a Bachelor of Science in biology. He also minored in creative writing and was president of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
Before getting into the legal profession, Marc had a successful career in publishing where he directed and produced audiobooks, recorded lectures, and engineered voice-over spots. While making books-on-tape at night, Marc studied at New York Law School during the day, where he received his Juris Doctor with a concentration in intellectual property.
Prior to joining Spar and Bernstein, Marc worked in law firms in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, specializing in patent and prior art reviews, asylum cases, and family law. He also volunteers with the Brooklyn Legal Aid Society. Marc is a member of the New York Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and roots for the Mets and the Islanders.
